We built a custom Android app for the restaurant industry with a completely functional backend. What does that mean in English? Basically, you have full control over your app. If you need to change a menu item or add a coupon, you can do it yourself in about 5 minutes. Instead of calling us, D just logs into the backend with his tablet and makes the change. Once he hits submit, it pushes the change to the app. Speaking of pushing stuff, let’s take a look at some of the app features.
This is probably the feature restaurant owners will find the most useful. Remember the backend I was talking about? Let’s say that D wants to use it to do a free soft drink special on a slow night. He goes into the backend and clicks on the notification tab. Then he just types in “Free drink with meal tonight only at D’s”. Once he hits enter, everyone with the app installed gets an audible notification and the message appears on their homescreen. When business picks up that night, D gets to see the value his app brings to the restaurant.
Think of some other ways this might work. If you have an alcohol license you can instantly notify customers of a happy hour special. What about football season? Want to get more people in the door to watch the game? Just push out a 1/2 off appetizers notification a few hours prior. Of course you don’t want to make your customers notification weary, so be sure to limit this feature to once or twice a month.
Overall, this is a complete product for restaurant owners. We can have a version developed with your logo, graphics, and menu within 30 days. Here’s a list of all the features already built into the app:
- Complete menu and categories with the option to upload an image for each entrée
- Collect e-mail addresses for future marketing efforts
- Share specials or coupons with your frequent customers
- About section to share your story
- Push notifications
What’s it going to cost me?
That’s the question I hear all the time. Mobile app development is expensive! To build this one with a complete backend took over 160 hours of work. However, all that work’s been done already. So, we have a unique option for restaurants looking to try out a mobile app for a few months without sinking a fortune into custom development.
